Full Client Case Study:

Greig & Stephenson Limited

What is R&D?

Research and Development (R&D) tax credits are a government incentive intended to promote R&D in the UK.

Ken, Adam, Thierry and their team were approached to design an eco-friendly commercial development. The client required the building to minimise energy requirements and offer an environmentally conscious design. The project would be completed on limited space and would need to achieve particularly high standards of design to pass the planning requirements.

Having carried out user flow and lighting studies, the architects developed a passively ventilated building with solar electricity production and water heating capabilities. A full waste disposal and recycling system was incorporated, reducing the waste output from the building.  Grieg and Stephenson researched various materials for use in the project. They included sustainably sourced timber and furthermore, they planted trees on-site in the outdoor areas to reduce the carbon footprint of the building. These factors resulted in an “appreciably improved” use of the site in a densely populated urban area.

The Testimonial

“Queens Lane Consultants were consummately professional in the handling of our R&D claim. They had an in-depth and reassuring knowledge of the industry and the type of work which qualified for the rebate. The service they provided was expedient and required relatively little input from ourselves. We pride ourselves on undertaking work that is relevant on a social, economic and environmental level, and as such, often spend over the odds in terms of time researching and developing these ideas; as such, we are very grateful Queens got in touch!”
